Synopsis

Joseph Pulitzer emigrated to the United States in 1864. In 1868 he became a newspaper reporter. In 1871 he bought a share of that paper and resold it. In 1874 he acquired another paper and sold its franchise. Four years after he gained control of the St. Louis Dispatch. He shifted his interests to New York City, where he bought a paper and turned it into the voice of the U.S. Democratic Party.
